  • Causes of the Cold War
The Cold War breaks out between the United States and the Soviet Union (1945-1991),(The United States and the origins of the Cold War, 1941-1947. 2000) and intensified conflict between the socialism and capitalism after the World War Ⅱ. "Cold War" originated from a speech of Bernard Baruch in South Carolina Columbia on April 16, 1947. The Cold War was not a traditional one which refers to the political and diplomatic conflicts and competition by the mutual containment without the violence between the United Sates and the Soviet union and even their Allies. Cold War relies on the competitive forms which all tried to avoid the outbreak of the worldwide large-scale war after the just ending World War Ⅱ. There are three specific aspects are highlighted here, such as politically, military and economically.
First, political and ideology problems and diversity focusing on the different races, cultures and aims are the main reasons for the Cold War. Through the Yalta conference(1945,02,04-11) decision(The United States and the origins of the Cold War, 1941-1947. 2000), The Soviet union received huge reparations and a part of Germany territory in the late World War Ⅱ. This conference promoted the influence of Soviet's socialism political status in the world, at the same time, the Soviet forces also expanded to most of Eastern Europe. Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, uses this occasion established the political power in the whole territory. Due to the fact, this is exactly the worry from the Unite States and others capitalist countries fearing socialist countries would dominate the world in the near future. The fire on the verge because of the political factors. Then after the Yalta conference, the United States lead to others capitalist countries built the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in 1949 which was against the WTO(Warsaw Treaty Organization) that the Soviet union lead to some socialist countries built in 1955The Origins of the Cold War in Europe: International Perspectives1994 ). Furthermore, the Berlin Wall was set up in 1969, which was another product of the conflict between political and ideology problems and differences. Especially the completion of the Berlin Wall, it sped up to the process of the Cold War.
Second, after the World War Ⅱ,the Unite States possessed powerful military forces: close to 6 million ground forces, 2.3 million air forces and 3.4 million navy forces. Whereas the Soviet union also had nearly 12 million military forces total, and especially own the strong ground forces. They both have close to 12 million troops and nuclear weaponThe Cold War: a new history, 2005). Therefore, the United States and the Soviet union was the world's strong opponent. They initiated the military competition during the Cold War. Even though the Cold War is nonviolence war, the military competition often make the treat of the war. The most outstanding event was Cuban Missile Crisis(1962), this crisis almost made the whole world fall into the nuclear crisis. In addition, the United States raised the SDI(Strategic Defense Initiative), then they begun the space race defending their own nation which also included the military competition. There are many famous events happened durning this time, such as Apollo Project, sed up the spaceport, man-made satellites, ASM(Anti-Satellite Missile), etc.
Third, the conflict between economic strategy target was another reason for the Cold War. At the end of the World War Ⅱ, the United States' economy had an obvious development because of the capital accumulation during wartime, it became the world's economic centre. The economic strategy target was focused on expanding overseas markets, investing markets and ruling the world. While the Soviet Union also intended to improve the economical position and benefits to ensure their recovery and development, as well as expand the forces by using the wartime obtain interests. Obviously, only one nation could be the overlord between the United States and the Soviet Union. As a result, the United States implemented the Marshall Plan in July in 1947, by which the United States helped other Western European countries recover from the gloomy economy during the post-war, and restrained the Soviet Union’s further forces expansion and regime invasion in the Europe. However, the Soviet Union stirred up the Eastern European countries not to accept or join the plan, which finally caused the Cold War.
To conclude, the Cold War' end with the disintegration of Soviet union in 1991. There are many reasons for the Cold War based on the historical facts, but the different political stance, legionary against and beneficial conflicts were the three main reasons of the Cold War.

Evaluation by Deborah

Does the paper have a clear introduction? What kind of introduction is it (personal example, interesting facts and statistics, historical introduction or general to specific)?

The type of the introduction is: interesting facts and statistics. However, it is not too clear. May be the introduction has much specific details and facts about Cold War. It should be better just give a brief overview about the War in the introduction. Furthermore, some grammar mistakes may do some sentences difficult to understand.

  • · Does it have a clear thesis (topic, controlling idea, and essay map)? If not, what is missing?

- The thesis is clear: There are three specific aspects
of Cold War
that
will beare
highlighted here
:,such as
political
ly
, military and economically.”
- It has a Topic, controlling idea andpredictors

  • · Do the body paragraphs have topic sentences? If not, which paragraph is missing a topic sentence?

-The two paragraphs have main ideas: the 1st one talks about political facts regarding the Cold War and the second one about military aspects. However, the ideas are not too clear and may be need to be revised.
In addition, the first sentences of these two paragraphs should indicate better the topic about the paragraph will be about.

  • · Are the ideas logical? Do the supporting details support the topic sentences?
The two body paragraphs have main ideas and supporting details but sometimes grammar mistakes make the ideas difficult to follow. For example: Due to the fact, this is exactly the worry from the Unite States and others capitalist countries fearing socialist countries would dominate the world in the near future. The fire on the verge because of the political factors. Then after the Yalta conference, the United States lead to others capitalist countries built the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in 1949…”
In addition, it is missing some in-text citations in the text. Maybe the sources used are enough, but they were no cited. Furthermore, some in-text citations are wrong. In-text citations should have just the name of the writer and the date of publication of the article. It should not have the title of the article. For example: “(The Cold War: a new history, 2005)”

  • · Are the paragraphs coherent (do the ideas flow clearly)? If not, explain clearly which paragraphs/ideas are unclear.

As I said in the previous question, the ideas in the paragraphs are coherent, but some grammar mistakes do the reading difficult to comprehend (see example in the previous question)

  • · Are the sentences within the paragraphs cohesive (are there transition words to connect the ideas)? Give examples where the writer needs to add transition words.

-There are many sentences where were used transition words to connect the ideas but it is missing in others.
Example: “Even though the Cold War is(was a) nonviolence war, the military competition often make(made) the treat of the war. (Trasition!) The most outstanding event was Cuban Missile Crisis(1962), this crisis almost made the whole world fall into the nuclear crisis.

  • · Is it written with appropriate academic tones (i.e., use hedging and objective language)? Give example of how the writer can use hedging to improve his/her writing.

-I don’t know how to evaluate that.

  • · Does the writer use correct word forms. Give examples of incorrect word forms.

-There are some incorrect word forms. For example: There are three specific aspects are highlighted here, such as politically, military and economically.”

  • · Is the essay free of sentence errors, i.e., fragments, run-on sentences, comma splices, verb forms, subject-verb agreement, singular and plural forms, spelling, and capitalization? Give examples of errors

There are mistakes in verb forms and fragments.
For example: Even though the Cold War is(was a) nonviolence war, the military competition often make(made) the treat of the war.”(verb forms)
Due to the fact, this is exactly the worry from the United States and others capitalist countries fearing socialist countries would dominate the world in the near future.” (Fragment)
“The fire on the verge because of the political factors.” (Fragment)
Especially the completion of the Berlin Wall, it sped up to the process of the Cold War.”

  • · Does the writer provide in-text citations for all the supporting details?

-As I said before, is missing some in-text citations.

  • · Is there a reference list at the end?

-The research is not finished yet.
